Nearly five years in the making, this collection of unedited piano improvisations by Zac Gvirtzman began recording in September 2012 and was accompanied by the long poem of the same title, published in our fourth issue on the theme of lost generations, 'Sixteen Summers'. DS writers will join a night of performance and improvisation in celebration of the release. Featuring movement by Seke Chimutengwende, images by Jim Glover, readings by DIfferent Skies and piano by Zac Gvirztman.
Discounted copies of the album and DS issue 4 available on the night.
Different Skies is an open community of writers and collaborators. We welcome submissions and proposals for our publications and events.
Our platforms offer a home for hybrids, a space for writing that falls between the political, the critical and the creative. We publish a heterogenous mix of critical essays, creative non-fiction, free-prose experiments, life writing, long-form journalism and reportage. We look for words that are alive and full of images.
Writers should check out our previous issues before submitting to us. You can read Different Skies online, but the best way to experience the publication is to order the paperback.
